PETITION TO THE PARLIAMENT OF ONTARIO

• WHEREAS St. Mary’s Hospital, Grand River Hospital and Cambridge Memorial Hospital in the Waterloo Region are experiencing a substantial increase in demand due to population growth;
• WHEREAS hospitals in the Waterloo Region receive $279 less per resident, compared to other Ontarians;
• WHEREAS the McGuinty government’s policies have contributed to nursing cuts and other staff cuts, bed closures and the closure of out-patient clinics, all of which reduce the quality of care;
• AND WHEREAS the provincial government has secured significant additional health care funding from the federal government;

WE THE UNDERSIGNED petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows.

• That the McGuinty government provide our hospitals with their fair share of provincial funding and introduce a funding formula based on demographics and the health needs of the population.
